As the Rebels returned to Shultz Oval, it was with heavy hearts and united spirit to honour the life of Paul “Campo” Campton, a true club legend tragically lost the weekend prior. In front of a big crowd and beneath clear blue skies, the Rebels family gathered for a day of remembrance, community, and rugby. With tribute messages marked on the field and a stirring minute of applause before each game, it was a powerful reminder of what sport can mean beyond the scoreboard. On a day full of emotion, the women’s team rose to the occasion with one of their best performances of the season, while the men fought bravely through injury and adversity. More than anything, it was a day the Rebels played with heart—for Campo.

The Rebels’ trip to Casino was a tale of two challenges—too few players for the men, too many for the women. A depleted men’s side was forced to forfeit second grade and reshuffle first grade, while the women’s squad struggled to match the physicality of a tough Casino outfit, going down 32–5 despite a try from captain Shyanne Appleby.

First grade pushed Casino all the way in a gritty contest, leading deep into the second half thanks to tries from George Garnett and Sam Valpy and accurate kicking from Jay Manson. But late penalties proved costly, with the Bulls sneaking a last-minute try to steal the win, 27–24.
